Course Description
This course aims to equip students with the essential expertise and understanding necessary to offer assistance and care to clients with disabilities. The program reflects the responsibilities of support workers who are committed to delivering personalised care that aligns with an individualised care plan, following strict guidelines and service plans while being supervised.
Entry Requirements
Students must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Completion of year 10 or more
- A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI). We recommend that you create your USI before you book your course.
Additionally, you need to attend and achieve a satisfactory result on the language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) test. The LLN test will be conducted either face to face in a hard copy or via eLearning: Moodle. The LLN test will determine whether the student needs additional support to achieve the following ACSF Levels-
Learning – Level 3,
Reading – Level 3,
Writing – Level 3,
Oral Communication – Level 3
Numeracy – Level 3

Course Overview
This course provides you with foundational skills and knowledge to work in the aged care Facility. You’ll learn to work with individuals to support their independence and wellbeing, in their homes or in community settings.
Through classroom learning, e-learning, and a practical work placement, you’ll learn to:
- Provide individualised support, both physical and social
- Maintain personal care and other activities
- Recognise healthy body systems
- Work with diverse people.
You will also learn valuable skills in following safe work practices and working legally and ethically.
